Yesterday I attended a family portraits posing workshop put on by a local successful photographer, Jessica Weinstock. And let me tell you - it was a blast! For the first half of the workshop we were treated to a late lunch / early dinner by Jess. Jess started to teach us about things like SEO, what to have on a website, blogging, and so much more after we finished our lunch. I took a lot of notes and I felt the time was very useful to me. After dinner we headed out...

This past weekend I tried my hand at some photo manipulation and compositing using my niece as a model. Family is of the highest importance to both myself and my husband. Every Sunday, he has dinner with his parents and his sister and her family. I started joining them off and on while dating, and now it's a full on tradition for me too. Every Sunday, we get together and share a meal. It's a blessing to be able to do that, and to have family who actually want to spend...

Yesterday my husband Erik and I had the privilege of attending the dance recital of a friend's daughter. At our church, we are all about living in community. We try to be intentional about inviting people in our community into the natural rhythms of our lives. We are blessed that we are able to be part of a small group made up of such amazing people. They are truly wonderful and we love spending time with them. In an effort to live out what we believe about community, our friend...

My husband is a Youtube Creator and has his own channel. I help him film videos when he can't be behind the camera. The two of us were filming a video involving his 2015 Subaru BRZ. He wanted to wash it so it would be clean for the video. We finished filming early, and since it was so nice out, the golden hour sunlight was just beautiful, and his car was clean, we decided to take the opportunity to shoot some HDR (high dramatic range) photography. We were using my 24...

I am a graphic designer, but at my place of employment (also my husband's!) I do a majority of the photography, especially on-location in-use photography of our products. Erik is the senior videographer. I shoot in use product photography while they do the same with video. This particular shoot was for a wide array of pneumatic air tools. A co-worker had an in with a mechanic who restores cars for a living. We did our shoot at his professional garage. At one point, he was joking about getting a model to...

My husband and I have started a tradition. If you're a "Parks and Recreation" fan like we are, you'll understand what the phrase "treat yo-self" means. And our "treat yo-self" day is officially November 1st every year. My husband, Erik, makes short films, and is always on the lookout for good deals on props. We also both love to cosplay as our favorite characters, which means we're always searching for costume pieces as well. A day after Halloween this year, we happened to stumble into a local Halloween pop-up shop at the...

I recently got to shoot family portraits for my boss and his family at St. Mary's on the Lake and it was a great day! For those of you who don't know, my husband Erik and I work together. And we are lucky enough to have a really awesome boss where we work. We recently got together to go to the Renaissance Faire together and it was such a blast! The best part was getting to know his wife a little more. She's such a cool person and was really easy...

I was so thrilled when my sister-in-law asked me to take their family portraits! I love them as if they were my own flesh and blood family, and my niece is adorable beyond words. My sister-in-law was pregnant with their second. She wanted photos of the three of them to celebrate just the three of them before the baby came. You probably couldn't tell from the photos, but we shot in their neighborhood in Grayslake. It's one of the most unique neighborhoods I've ever been in. I love the architecture there...
