Family Portraits | Libertyville
Yesterday I attended a family portraits posing workshop put on by a local successful photographer, Jessica Weinstock. And let me tell you – it was a blast!
For the first half of the workshop we were treated to a late lunch / early dinner by Jess. Jess started to teach us about things like SEO, what to have on a website, blogging, and so much more after we finished our lunch. I took a lot of notes and I felt the time was very useful to me.
After dinner we headed out for the second part of the workshop – a styled shoot at Radical Root Organic Farm in Libertyville where Jess was going to teach us about how she scouts for locations, session workflow, filtered sunlight/shooting in the golden hour, camera settings when shooting, free lensing, creative techniques for dramatic and unique photos, how to interact with a family/kids, and how to pose families.
“As you know, I prefer candid photos anyway, and I got plenty of those to make up for missing those perfect “posed” ones!”
This shoot was a blast! I had so much fun. There were 8 other photographers all shooting at the same time, and I never wanted to get in anyone’s way, so a lot of my photos show the family looking off at another camera, but I still love them and I think it works. As you know, I prefer candid photos anyway, and I got plenty of those to make up for missing those perfect “posed” ones!
Can I tell you that I’m also in love with this family? They are just so gorgeous, all of them. I really liked something about the middle child, because I found myself photographing him a lot. He was just so cute in his little outfit and that hat! And the oldest child had this perfect porcelain skin dotted with all these freckles, and crystal blue eyes. And the baby… just adorable! The mom and dad are so cute together and overall I just can’t get over how gorgeous this family was. They interacted so well together too. You can just tell that family is oozing with love. I really like seeing how different families interact with one another when I am on a shoot. It’s very interesting!
I couldn’t be happier with how the photos from this shoot turned out. I think I ended up with close to 200 photos that I liked (I shot 1,137), but here are just a handful of my very favorites 🙂
Xoxo
