Family Portraits | Grayslake
I was so thrilled when my sister-in-law asked me to take their family portraits! I love them as if they were my own flesh and blood family, and my niece is adorable beyond words. My sister-in-law was pregnant with their second. She wanted photos of the three of them to celebrate just the three of them before the baby came.
You probably couldn’t tell from the photos, but we shot in their neighborhood in Grayslake. It’s one of the most unique neighborhoods I’ve ever been in. I love the architecture there and the feeling and atmosphere the neighborhood invokes, which is a peaceful country kind of feeling.
They have this awesome lake and beach in their neighborhood, which was the second part of the location that day. I really love a ton of the family portraits I got here. The sun was setting and the colors were wonderful. At one point, I decided to take my shoes off and roll up my pants and tread out into the lake to see if I could get a different angle. I don’t think any of them ended up making the final cut, mostly because my niece was reaching the “I don’t want to do photos anymore” point, but I would definitely try it again! Plus, the water was a little cold. It was November in Chicago, after all 🙂
I would absolutely love to do family portraits for them again. I hope I get the chance to do so for many, many years to come! If you want to see more photos of my adorable niece, check out the photo manipulation I did of her as a fairy!
xoxo
